here's the poster for the show. fellow show-mate, curtis, took charge of this. each of the artists in the show designed a layer and curtis blended them all together and took on silk-screening this bad boy. it's 18"x18" and will be sold without the info tab at the show for $10 each.

and in case you can't see the show info, here it is:

S O M E T H I N G - O L D

since crunch time for the show is upon us (me), and I just got news that a couple of things might not have survived the kiln the way I had hoped, I am going to post some things I did a long time ago, un-pottery-related.

two calendar pages.

I am not sure why I never posted them here, but long story short is I forgot I could even do that. post things that are non-ceramic. so here's my april calendar page for the w+k studio goodness 2011 calendar (we do one every year).

T H E - S I L E N C E - M E A N S - I ' M - W O R K I N G

it's been too long. and I have a desk full of work I haven't shown you. but I also had planned to try chris's other camera to see if I would do better shooting with that. you know, less complicated, less cursing. and then it got stolen out of our truck, along with chris's laptop.

besides that, I have been BUSTING MY ASS. yes. there's going to be a WE MAKE II. (another group show.) it's august 4th, here in portland, so mark your calendars and buy your plane tickets now!

anyway, I have Grand! Plans! for this show. lots of experiments going on here, and lots of possibility for failure. and lots of work. I don't want to give anything away yet, but am trying to document what I've got going on, so that I'll be able to share. and I've been working on projects almost every day in the hopes of getting things ready in time.

so stay tuned.

G R A Y - L I N E - B O W L

yup. it's a line bowl. and it's gray. but there's a TWIST! hold on to your horses:
this one has TWO LINES. one on the back and one on the front. and the lines go all the way to the foot ring.

I KNOW, RIGHT? I might as well throw out all the rules.

this crazy dish is 5.125 inches in diameter x 2.25 inches tall. the inside is steel blue. no, it's something else. oh man, I can't remember the name of that glaze. I'll have to update that later this week. but it's cool, right? the gray/blue? I like the way it breaks and changes color a little bit sometimes. the outside is glazed with eggshell wash.

C E R A M I C S - S H O W C A S E

every year, the oregon potters association has a big showcase at the convention center where all the local potters (okay, not all, but a lot), set up booths and sell their wares. it's great. they run it like a big grocery store full of pottery. so basically you wander around, pick up anything you like and take it to a checkout at the end. (yes, they have a holding area so you don't have to tote around a bunch of heavy pottery.)

anyway, it was this past weekend. and this year, I helped my teacher, kristy with her booth (you can watch a little video her husband made about it, here). I also shopped around for ideas, drooled over a few things here and there, and generally got inspired. here are a few highlights:
